Princeton, WV (May-24) As is the case at almost every short track around the nation, drivers are often tagged with a nickname earned in the early stages of their driving careers that never seems to go away. In the case of Blairsville, GA's Jonathan Davenport, he's often referred to as Jonathan 'Superman' Davenport. Anyone who attended last night's final leg of the $33,000 FASTRAK Late Model Shoot-Out weekend here at Princeton Raceway could see first hand how Davenport earned the 'Superman' label.

In front of a crowd regarded by some as perhaps the largest in 10 years at Princeton Raceway, Davenport was masterful leading flag to flag to capture his second win in as many days, but the win didn't come easy.

Davenport and 2008 Princeton Raceway Champion Mike Faykus put on a show that'll be talked about for some time. From the time the green flag waved, Davenport was under siege from Faykus. As the duo entered each end of speedway, Davenport's grip on the point was in doubt almost every lap to where fans along the front stretch were on their feet throughout the entire event. From Victory Lane Davenport, commented, "I gotta thank Mike. He's a class act. As close as we were racing, he could have taken me out at any time and didn't".

Undoubtedly, perhaps the biggest winners of the night were the faithful fans of Princeton Raceway. While Mother Nature has made her presence known early on this season in many areas of the country, the deserving race starved fans of Princeton Raceway have been waiting since the end of April to see racing here at Princeton Raceway, a FASTRAK Racing Series weekly sanctioned track.

Princeton Raceway's Ernie Shelton said "The fans here are the best I've seen. They come here week in and week out and we've had rain every time. These guys put on one heck of a show tonight and these fans really deserved it".

2009 - Hammerdown Speedway

2009 FASTRAK Racing Series. All rights reserved

Carnesville, GA (Apr-1) The FASTRAK Racing Series rolls into Red Springs NC April 18 for event number three on the FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series at Hammerdown Speedway. Many regard a lap around Hammerdown Speedway as one of the quickest laps one will experience anywhere in the Carolina's. The sub 14 second laps which are common at Hammerdown, boast well of track owner Michel Weeks persistence in achieving perfection with regard to track preparation. By all accounts, the wide layout of Hammerdown in conjunction with a usable racing surface from top to bottom at both ends of the speedway could well produce an intensified level of competition unmatched in the season's first two events.

Hammedown Speedway is one of many new venues for the FASTRAK Racing Series in 2009 joining other first year tracks in Florida, Wyoming, Missouri, West Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina and Georgia.

Race fans in attendance on Saturday April 18 will certainly be treated to a racing program not often seen in the southeast. Apart from the headlining FASTRAK Racing Series Late Models, the schedule could see local Super Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds and two classes of Micro Sprints in action as well, along with Super Streets and Pure Stocks. Weeks has garnered somewhat of a reputation in the region for not only how diversified his weekly racing program is, but how quickly the program moves along, seeing little down time.

Currently, Lee Cooper of Woodruff, SC is clinging to a slim five point advantage over Clover, SC wheelman Ross Bailes in the FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series point standings with Inman SC driver David Smith only nine markers back. A deeper look at the point standings reveals a list of 12 drivers who could leave Hammerdown with the points lead including newcomer and Lavonia winner Larry Timms of Hodges, SC and fellow newcomer John Henderson of Aiken, SC.

While 2008 had seen Blairsville, GA's Jonathan Davenport take the first two wins, 2009 is shaping up to be ultra competitive where consistent finishes are paramount and perhaps the elusive key in winning the 2009 FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series championship. There is probably no one more versed then Cooper as he treads through 2009 in quest of his third title, a feat no one has accomplished in the history of the FASTRAK Racing Series.

Recognizing the impact and the significance the FASTRAK Racing Series has had in reshaping the motosports landscape, Hammerdown owner Michael Weeks is currently evaluating the prospect of FASTRAK weekly sanctioning at the Red Springs, NC facility and welcomes input from all drivers in the area. Weeks is confident a Hammerdown regular could well ascend to national acclaim in Red Springs.

Furthermore, Weeks has announced that Hammerdown Speedway will have an open practice on Friday April 17th beginning at 4 pm lasting well into the evening. Practice will be open to all divisions competing Saturday and Weeks vows all visiting FASTRAK Racing Series teams will see plenty of track time. FASTRAK Racing Series teams are also invited to stay overnight and Weeks points out that his facility is one of very few tracks with showers on site.

In an effort to roll out the red carpet for race fans, $5.00 OFF grandstand admission coupons will be available at retail locations throughout the region including Red Springs, Lumberton, and Laurinburg.

Additionally, details are being finalized whereby race fans will have the opportunity to meet a number of FASTRAK Racing Series drivers on Saturday at the K-Mart located in Lumberton and get a rare; up close look at FASTRAK Racing Series Late Models on display slated to race later in the day at Hammerdown Speedway. The FASTRAK Racing Series Autograph Session will benefit the Children's Miracle Network.

Also on tap for Saturday night is the traditional 4-wide salute to fans as fireworks light up the sky overhead.

Clearly, the inaugural FASTRAK Racing Series visit to Hammerdown Speedway could well be an event race fans are still talking about long after the checkered flag falls.

March 13, 2009   Fastrak North Atlantic Region

Carnesville, GA (Mar-13) In a bold move, just days after shattering all attendance records at Modoc Speedway in Modoc, SC for the $10,000 to win FASTRAK Racing Series Modoc 100, the FASTRAK Racing Series announced today it’s association with Michael Sweet in forming the new FASTRAK Racing Series North Atlantic Region. At a time when the sagging economy has a firm grip on just about everyone, the FASTRAK Racing Series has made it’s fourth “new region" announcement in just over 2 months. The FASTRAK Racing Series North Atlantic Region joins the Mid-Atlantic Region, Badlands Region  and Panhandle Region as regions to be developed in 2009.

Clearly, as a result of the enormous growth experienced throughout the 2008 season which saw 11,700 competitor entries in 732 FASTRAK Racing Series sanctioned events before 1.6 million race fans, the FASTRAK Racing Series has seen success in answering the need for more affordable, organized rules based sanctioning where a level playing field environment is paramount. Seemingly, the FASTRAK Racing Series has remained true to its core founding values; putting racing back in the hands of the drivers.

The FASTRAK North Atlantic Region will encompass the upper northeast tier of the east coast covering parts of New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Maine and a portion of Delaware. The FASTRAK North Atlantic Region will complete a comprehensive expansion where the entire eastern seaboard of the nation has FASTRAK sanctioning in place in every state.

At the helm of the FASTRAK North Atlantic Region is Michael Sweet. Sweet’s experience in competitive motorsports dates back a number of years as a driver, car owner, and series sponsor in and around New York at such tracks as Freeport, Islip and Riverhead Raceway. Sweet is familiar with the core makeup of the areas racing community. In fact, most recently, Sweet has been working with a New York non profit organization to bring motorsports opportunities to inner city children of all diversities.

In recent weeks, Sweet was involved in aligning a new entry into the consumer retail energy drink market with Cup driver Larry Foyt at Daytona.

According to Sweet, “the FASTRAK Racing Series gives more drivers more opportunities to race for a true national championship and bigger point fund then just about any series in the country. Once more, car counts and attendance figures keep going up, even when gas was $4 a gallon. The growth of the FASTRAK Racing Series has been explosive and as an organization, the values the Series was founded on are still in tact to where the entire series is as much about the drivers and race teams today as it was six years ago.

“We’re thrilled to add the FASTRAK North Atlantic Region to our network of tracks and regions” said FASTRAK Founder and CEO Stan Lester.  Our presence in the uppermost tier of the nation so steeped in racing tradition; should translate into growth in a market where race fans have been deprived of the competitive kind of Late Model racing associated with the FASTRAK Racing Series for too long.  It’s my hope that this partnership will transcend into a long relationship between Michael Sweet and the FASTRAK Racing Series.

The FASTRAK North Atlantic Region will be a part of these weekends 23rd Annual Motorsports Expo and Trade Show at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY. Newly appointed FASTRAK Racing Series North Atlantic Regional Director Michael Sweet will be on hand to present the FASTRAK Racing Series and the myriad of sanctioning opportunities available.

“I am so excited to be involved with FASTRAK.  It works for the track owners, the car owners, drivers and especially the race fans.  It is so right for right now. Many car owners, drivers and promoters have shown interest, and we hope to be able to announce our first scheduled race after the show.’

Davenport Takes Home $10,000 as FASTRAK Crowd Redefines "Standing Room Only"
Carnesville, GA (Mar-9) While the Cup Series continues to struggle to fill seats, the largest crowd in the storied 25 year history of the Modoc Speedway (SC) filled the stands this past Saturday night to witness a FASTRAK dirt late model Series event. Fans were relegated in some cases to have to park two miles from the track just to get in. The concourse close to the press box area was packed eight to twelve deep at fans witness one of the greatest events in the history of the 4/10's mile speedway. It was heard that even the South Carolina State Patrol had to direct traffic at an intersection over four miles from the speedway and in some cases were shuttling fans to the track in an effect to assist the speedway.

Bonus Feature Added to Weekend Schedule

Carnesville, GA (Feb-13) In just a few short weeks Modoc Speedway kicks off its 25th Anniversary in a BIG way on March 6&7 with the $10,000 To Win $300 To Start FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’. 2009 will also mark an alliance with the FASTRAK Racing Series as Modoc Speedway will join the network of tracks across the country sanctioned by the FASTRAK Racing Series in 2009. “The FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’ will mark only the second time in the storied 25 years of racing at Modoc Speedway that we’ve held a 100 lap event” stated Modoc Speedway owner Brian Stewart. “We’re also excited about our FASTRAK sanctioning in 2009. Our fans are not only loyal, they’re dedicated.  The level of competition associated with the FASTRAK Racing Series brand is unquestionable and should be exciting to watch. I also think we have local drivers here that can mount a serious challenge in terms of claiming the FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONAL Championship. Our drivers also have their eye on the $10,000 FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship as well”.

With the outpouring of interest from as far away as Iowa and Missouri for the FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’March 6 &7  the signature FASTRAK Racing Series Bonus Feature has been added to the weekends scheduled of events.

In late July of 2008 The FASTRAK Racing Series kicked off what has virtually become a staple event at every venue the FASTRAK Southeast/Smoky Mtn./Mideast Touring Series travels to.  The ‘FASTRAK Racing Series Bonus Feature’ has become popular amongst drivers and fans alike. Different from the FASTRAK Racing Series Last Chance Race where drivers compete for the final starting positions in the weekend’s main event, the ‘FASTRAK Racing Series Bonus Feature’ is a paid feature for drivers not making the main event. Since its inception, the FASTRAK Racing Series Bonus Feature has featured some of the most intense racing seen in 2008.

Modoc Speedway is located just outside Modoc, South Carolina roughly 30 minutes north of Augusta, GA. The track layout was originally a semi banked oval 4/10’s of a mile in length. In its original configuration, racing in the corners was always tight giving way to a track widening project increasing the track width to 140 feet at some points around the track. The minimum track width anywhere around the facility is 120 feet.

Track owner Brian Stewart is kicking off Modoc Speedway’s 25th Anniversary in a memorable way as well for Modoc Speedway support divisions. While tracks will commonly schedule a “big payday” event for each support class throughout the season, Stewart has turned things up a notch with 4 support classes in action paying $1000 To Win. The Hobby Division along with the Super Streets, Stock V-8’s and the Super Stock 4’s will all compete for $1000 To Win respectively.

Also in competition before the weekend concludes will be the Extreme 4’s, Young Guns, and Road Warriors.

The $10,000 To Win $300 To Start FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’ will be the largest season opener the Carnesville, GA based series has held to date, further solidifying its position inside the motorsports community as  still experiencing explosive growth. 2008 saw an average of 568 competitors competing in FASTRAK Late Model events each weekend before 1.6 million race fans.

The weekend will open on Friday March 6 with practice and FASTRAK Qualifying (2 Laps) followed by heat races. The Pit Area will open at Noon. The drivers meeting will be at 7 p m. The Hobby Division as well as the Super Street’s, Stock V-8’s and the Super Stock 4’s will have heat races en route to their respective $1000 To Win Saturday Night Feature events.

On Saturday, tentatively, the FASTRAK Racing Series Last Chance Race rolls off the starting grid first to round out the 26 car starting field that will make up the $10,000 To Win FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’. Pit Area open at 2:30 with the Driver Meeting set for 5 p m.

The FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’ will start 26 cars. 24 of the starting positions will be filled via heat races and the FASTRAK Last Chance Race. The final starting spots will be provisional’s but not in the traditional sense. The 25th starting spot will go to the driver traveling the furthest not already in the field. The 26th paid Pre Entry received by Modoc Speedway officials will be guaranteed a starting position in the FASTRAK Racing Series ‘Modoc 100’.

FASTRAK Welcomes Tyler County Speedway

Middlebourne,WV track weekly sanctioned in ‘09

FASTRAK Northeast Region

©2009 FASTRAK Racing Series. All rights reserved

Pulaski, PA (Jan-12) The FASTRAK Racing Series announced today the addition of another track to the growing list of tracks “going FASTRAK’ in 2009. Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia has been added to the FASTRAK Northeast Region for the upcoming 2009 season joining Arcade International Raceway in Delevan, New York and Roaring Knob Motorsports Park in Markleysburg, PA as the newest additions to the rapidly expanding FASTRAK Northeast Region

Tyler County Speedway is a ¼-mile dirt oval located at the Tyler County Fairgrounds and will be begin its sixth consecutive year under the direction of BDS Promotions with the trio of Dan Patterson, Scott Strode, and Bryan Ferrell at the helm. Tyler County will feature the FASTRAK Racing Series Late Models on a weekly basis on Saturday nights from early April through Labor Day weekend.

“Excited,” replied Dan Patterson when asked about his thoughts of Tyler County joining FASTRAK. “The main reason we were lured in this direction is the growth of FASTRAK in the Northeast as well as the new Mid-Atlantic Region. We’re right in the middle of both regions. It’s a big deal and the concept is awesome. The teching in the Series is so well respected, and this will help guys on the fence to make the switch to FASTRAK. There’s too much money on the line for it not to be teched properly.”

“We met with FASTRAK founder Stan Lester a couple of  years ago,” explained Scott Strode. “We’ve been trying to promote the ‘crate’ concept for the last few years. Last year we made the move to go all ‘crates’ and were pleasantly surprised with the results as we ended up with as many as 12 cars per week, and expect that to grow with FASTRAK coming on board.”

“We just felt now was the time to make the move,” expressed Bryan Ferrell, who further expounded on FASTRAK. “It was an eye opener what Max Blair accomplished winning over $20,000 in FASTRAK point fund monies alone. With FASTRAK’s tremendous payouts and point funds, it seemed like a good move for us. We owed it to our drivers; something a little more national.”

Not only will drivers from West Virginia have a new FASTRAK home with the ability to compete for the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship and qualify for the Grand Nationals, but they’ll also have the opportunity to compete in two Northeast Touring Series events that will take place at their own bullring. Currently an early season touring event and a late summer touring event are in the planning stages.

“We’re really proud to welcome Tyler County into the FASTRAK family,” expressed FASTRAK Northeast co-Director Vicki Emig. “Tyler County is such a respected speedway and their quality of racing is well-known in the racing industry. The rate of growth here in the FASTRAK Northeast Region allows us to expand more into the West Virginia market. We’ve had conversations with Tyler County’s promoters the last two seasons hoping they would come under the FASTRAK umbrella. We were thrilled when we got the call from Dan Patterson with their intentions.”

An informational meeting has been scheduled at Tyler County Fairgrounds on Sunday, February 8 at 3 p.m. The meeting will be open to all interested parties and will be hosted by FASTRAK Northeast Regional Directors Vicki Emig and Mike Leone along with tech inspector Brad Hibbard.

“The 2009 FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series schedule continues to come together,” explained FASTRAK Northeast Region co-Director Mike Leone. “We’re hoping to have it finalized by the first weekend of February. We expect somewhere in the neighborhood of 12-15 events from late April through late September along with Night 1 of the Grand Nationals, which will again be held at Mercer Raceway Park on Saturday, October 2. There should be a nice variety of events spread throughout the racing season at some new facilities.”

The 2008 season was the second year for the FASTRAK Racing Series Late Models in the Northeast with Dog Hollow Speedway, Raceway 7, Mercer Raceway Park, McKean County Raceway, and Tri-City Speedway as weekly-sanctioned tracks. The FASTRAK Northeast Region’s own Max Blair was the 2008 FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Champion collecting $10,000 in the process. The FASTRAK Northeast Touring Series held 11 events with 10 different winners in 2008 where Blair pocketed another $5,000 as 2008 Champion.
